Derby, GB

Our vision is simple - TopHat was founded to deliver beautiful homes, sustainably. We use advanced manufacturing and the latest technology to delivery ultra-low carbon homes, whilst keeping costs as low as possible. We manufacture homes in a controlled environment, removing uncertainties, improving quality and reducing costs. We have extensive experience of delivering projects in different ways to ensure that our customers get the solutions they need.

We've built over 200 homes with a pipeline far in excess of this. We are also a manufacturer; operating in a 125,000 sq ft factory in Derbyshire and have well advanced plans to build another one 5 times bigger.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Integration Engineer to join our factory 2 project team on a full time, permanent basis. This role will have primary responsibility from a product perspective, to support the development of new TopHat facilities.

  • Take on the detail development needed to facilitate new manufacturing methods.
  • Build on, and further develop, TopHat's existing tradition for design automation, creating standardised repeatable product and manufacturing details in a complex mix of house and apartment types.
  • Develop methods to stabilise production throughput, minimising bottlenecks, and idle time throughout the factory.
  • Initiate new ways to improve work within TopHat's existing software platforms, and together with our software suppliers develop new functionality, enabling further automation and improvement, speeding up design and manufacturing processes and bringing down cost.
  • Take on existing development plans for design and manufacturing software improvements and manage and test the functionalities developed by TopHat's design software suppliers.
  • Aid in designing the production, testing and validation of prototype test articles.
  • Deliver designs for simulation purposes and for testing and integrating new manufacturing machinery.

F2 Test data and simulations:

  1. Responsible for developing factory throughput simulations, predicting cycle times and bottlenecks.
  2. Aid in ensuring the suppliers of both primary and secondary machinery have access to required data in a timely fashion.

F2 Design integration:

  1. Responsible for developing a plan for any legacy designs which need to be altered so that they can be supported by F2.
  2. Aid in the integration between the TopHat Design Team and the Factory 2 team ensuring designs are manufacturable in F2.

F2 Documentation and training:

  1. Responsible for ensuring the lead time and costs of any systems integration required for F2 are understood and minimised.
  2. Responsible for ensuring the systems integration is efficient and effective. Developing & documenting the architecture, the training, and, where possible, deliver trial demonstrations of how it will work in F2.
